Redex USA today introduced Levelflex®, a modular multi-zone tension leveler designed for continuous processing lines. Levelflex stretches material to within 95 percent of its yield strength — closer than conventional levelers can safely go — allowing mills to correct flatness defects in materials that typically resist leveling, including aluminum alloys, in fewer passes and with less scrap.
Two Operating Modes, One Platform
Levelflex ships in two configurations to match the material being processed:
- Pure stretch mode, an open-loop configuration using a preset cassette, for alloys sensitive to roll marking or edge cracking.
- Closed-loop tension measurement mode, using load cells to measure strip tension across the material’s width in real time; that feedback positions the Levelflex cassette during processing of thick-gauge strip, eliminating crossbow without a separate post-process check.
Both configurations are built to preserve strip surface and edge integrity while holding tight flatness tolerances across the coil.
Target Applications
Levelflex is designed for coating and heat-treatment lines, particularly those processing can stock and automotive-grade materials, where flatness is critical to coating adhesion and downstream formability.
